What is CCPA?
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives consumers more control over the collection and distribution of personal information from companies that collect and/or sell personal information and data.
What does that mean for my business?
This act was passed in June of 2018, however the act will go into effect on January 1, 2020. Businesses will have a six month grace period to enforce this by July 1, 2020.
You must comply if your business meets at least one of the following conditions:
- Annual gross revenue is at least $25 million.
- Has personal information of at least 50,000 California residence.
- At least 50% of annual revenue is generated from selling California residence personal information.
What is considered personal information?
Here are some examples:
- IP addresses
- Email address
- Products or Services purchased
- Browsing history

- Information on how users can opt out of the collection process.
