1 Billion Stumbles Monthly for StumbleUpon

If you’ve never tried StumbleUpon, the time is now. StumbleUpon is a recommendation engine that helps users discover new websites they’d never have known existed. It makes browsing the web easy like channel surfing and StumbleUpon just announced it now processes 1 billion stumbles monthly.

StumbleUpon has also just wrapped up a $17 million of series B financing after closing its second round of funding last month.

With 1 billion stumbling every month, StumbleUpon is experiencing online exponential growth. Looking at the graph above, it can be seen that the recommendation engine’s stumbles has increased by 200 million since last month. StumbleUpon announced 800 million stumbles in the previous month according to Business Insider.

Some people are wondering why StumbleUpon is growing so quickly. I think its because it takes you to relevant places you would never have known existed before. The typical way to search is through a search engine, but this only allows you to view links to websites one at a time. StumbleUpon allows you to easily click to browse through relevant websites that are based on the interest you have confined your StumbleUpon categories to. Also, it’s fun. As you click the “Stumble” button, you can indicate whether you like the site by clicking the thumbs-up or thumbs-down button. As you do this, it become smarter and begins to know what you will and won’t like. For example, my preferences are internet marketing, social media, and blogs, and StumbleUpon has brought me many relevant websites I’d never have visited before.

Have you used StumbleUpon? What are your thoughts?
