Driving Traffic to Your Site Using Google Adwords

While it goes without saying that driving traffic to a site through methods such as social media marketing and search engine optimization is one of the most important aspects of building an online presence, being able to successfully accomplish this is an entirely different beast in itself. Although a site might provide exceptional content or offer a very useful product, it means nothing without the right means of advertising its services. Fortunately, for businesses seeking to succeed or build a profit in this area, internet marketing tools such as Google Adwords provide an effective way to help them thrive by drawing targeted traffic to their sites when used in conjunction with socieal media marketing and search engine optimization techniques.

Google Adwords works by displaying text relevant to keywords in searches from its users in the form of “Sponsored Links.” Whenever specific keywords are searched, the links appear in their own separate section and provides exposures for the sites listed.

More important than how it works, however, is how to get it to work for you. In the same way search engine optimization works, to effectively utilize Google Adwords, you need to plan your ad and effectively select keywords based on the highest pay per click amount you’re willing to pay. And, as with search engine optimization, selecting a good title tag for your ad (a short phrase that accurately and clearly describes your site) will likely draw the attention of your target demographic. By doing so, you’ll be more likely to be attracting more qualified leads, which have the potential to turn into sales of your service of product. Similarly important is determining a proper value per click. For example, while being in the first position seems ideal at first glance, it can also draw unwanted traffic and useless clicks. A lower position may be more likely to filter out this unwanted traffic and provide a higher click to sale conversion rate.

With that said, keep in mind that although Google Adwords is an effective way to drive traffic to your site, it should be used in conjunction with other marketing strategies such as search engine optimization and social media marketing to effectively build your site’s presence online.
