Enhance Your Blog: Tips on How to Effectively Use Images

What makes a fairytale storybook unforgettable? Of course there needs to be a Prince Charming and a “happily-ever-after” ending, but what else? Engaging animation and pictures would do wonders. If they were pop-out images, even better.  The same concept holds true to blogs as well, minus the magic mirrors and dragons.

Having relevant and engaging content is essential, however, utilizing images can help the appearance and set the mood of your blog; ultimately strengthening brand, increase your credibility, help convey your key message, and keeping readers coming back for more.

Cindy King suggests several ways to use images and design  in her article, “19 Ways to Use Images to Enhance Your Blog,” in which I selected a few that, in my opinion, will definitely help improve your blog.

1. Branding
It is key to create a blog header that represents your brand and what it stands for.  The graphics, the font, the logo, and the rest of the content in your header should show the viewer what you’re all about.  Remove anything that hinders the message you want to convey.

2. Social Media Profiles
A successful social media strategy often incorporates different platforms that are often linked together.  Some popular sites include Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. It is essential to let your viewers know that they could also follow you on Twitter or be a fan on Facebook and a great way to do this is to have clearly visable icons that visitors can click and get redirected.

 3. Free Incentives
I don’t like taro flavored anything but if Lollicup were giving taro smoothies out for free, I’d sure try one.  Free incentives will undoubtedly attract customers and it is important to have enticing images of your free incentive to help increase the possibility of obtaining more subscribers.

4. Key Presentations or Videos
Do not hesitate to embed key presentations or videos that help convey your message.  Sometimes it may be easier to get your message across if visitors can hear, see, and experience what your blog is trying to express.

5. Clients and Sponsors
If you have worked with reputable and big name clients, let readers know by posting their logos, upon approval of the clients of course. This will increase your credibility and strengthen your brand image.

Images and graphics can help take your blog to the next level but remember too much of anything can be bad.  An overload of images and graphics will leave your blog cluttered and can be distracting. For more tips, please refer to the link provided below.
