Facebook Plugins for Your Website

Many companies’ social media marketing strategies have been limited to social media sites such as Facebook, but now many are beginning to build these capabilities into other areas of their marketing efforts. An effective way businesses are doing this is through adding Facebook social plugins to their website. Provided below are the top 3 plugins and when/how to use them effectively.

1. Like Button:

The famous “Like” button allows users to share a page from your website to their Facebook profile with the click of a button. When the user clicks the “Like” button on your site, a message appears in the user’s News Feed with a link back to your website.

The “Like” button can be placed next to any content on your website. AdOperationsOnline.com has placed their button at the top of every article and has found that about 0.7% of users click it to post it on Facebook. This generates extra publicity and provides extra free impressions.

StyleFactory, a home decorating site, has given shoppers the power to vote whether certain products should or should not be produced. They also let them vote on which products they wished were on sale or had discounts, says Mashable.com. This helps to encourage shoppers to share its products online. When a user “Likes” a product, the product is posted with a message and the number of extra orders needed in order to “tip” the deal.

E-retailers should not rule out the power of the “Like” button, which is an easy way for users to click and share their brand loyalty with friends.

2. Like Box

The Facebook Like Box allows users to “Like” your Facebook Page and enables users to view it straight from your website. Look above at a simple version with a Facebook Page name, logo, and like button. A full featured box can also be chosen, which allows users to know how many have already “Liked” the page and which of their friends also “Like” it. (See Below)

Motorcycle Superstore used this plugin and provided an extra incentive for visitors to “Like” their page. according to Mashable.com, The website had a 240% increase in daily “Likes” and experienced a 30% growth in total “Likes,” This resulted in over 13,000 “Likes”  during the month of the promotion.

3. Comments Box

A Comment Box  allows users to comment on your site’s content. The user can share their opinions, generate discussions, and share their comment on Facebook posting it to their Wall and friends streams. Comment Boxes help engage users and encourage them to get involved. Users must be signed into their Facebook in order to comment, but a majority of them already will be.

Don’t be left behind. Try some of these plugins for your own site and let us know how they work out!
