Google's New Personal Profile Layout

Google is attempting to create a more exciting layout for its Google Profile users. Google has redesigned its Gmail users profile pages in hopes that it will increase in popularity and excite potential and existing users. Will it compete with Facebook? Minimally, if at all. Regardless if it makes a large impact against its fierce Facebook competitor, it’s an improvement and that’s always a good thing.

The neat thing about Google Profile is that if you change the settings so that it is visible to everyone, when someone searches your name, it will likely be in the top spot. This is a nice feature, especially if you’re trying to build publicity for your own name or personal brand.

The new Profile layout is similar to Facebook‘s profile info page. The photo is naturally located in the top left, personal information such as occupation, location, employment, and birthday are listed below, and all other interesting information is centered in the page.

The new design doesn’t blow one’s mind with creativity or function, but it is an big improvement to Google’s previous profile page which lacked in quality in many ways. Since these profile pages are specifically developed for the individual, Google is now working on “new ways for businesses to engage with their customers.” So if you’re involved with your customers on Social Media, be prepared for some useful future tools from Google. Maybe, just maybe, Google Profile’s will be a new Social Media platform that businesses can use to interact with their customers.
