Home Depot Chooses Facebook

Facebook seems to be the hottest trend since sliced bread with nearly every business hoping that the the social media giant with help their business thrive. Home Depot is no different. Home Depot is offering consumers who “Like” the retailer on Facebook special offers every Friday throughout the Spring. The promotion ends May 27.

Discounts and other specials that will be on Home Depot’s Facebook page include gardening, lawn care, and patio items all for approximately 50% to 75% off the original price. All consumer has to do is click the “Buy Now” button that leads to the “Checkout Now” button to complete the transaction. The best part is that all of this can be done without leaving Facebook.

The prices listed at the Home Depot store and on their website will differ from those on Facebook. Typically Home Depot keeps its pricing consistent, but Home Depot believes there won’t be a problem because of the great deals on Facebook. Home Depot has decided to run this social media promotion during Spring because it is the retailer’s busiest season. Craig Menear, Home Depot’s executive vice president for merchandising, says, “Spring is our Christmas. As consumers continuously look for ways to affordably improve the appearance of their homes, we want to give them the best value possible to meet all of their indoor and outdoor needs.”

Home Depot is ranked No. 39 on the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. It seems that no one can be too good for social media. Even if you’re ranked in the top 40 of internet retailers.
