Justifying In-House Search Engine Optimization and SEO Consultants (Part II)

Previously, we enumerated three tangible benefits that a company can gain from having an in-house SEO team – meaning that instead of outsourcing SEO professionals, SEO campaigns will be done by those who work internally for the company. These three tangible benefits include performance data and reports, small SEO changes, and time and money saved when it comes to the recruiting process.

We conclude this two-part series by sharing what Bob Tripathi of Search Engine Watch believes are the three intangible benefits companies can gain from having an in-house SEO team – benefits which will be difficult to put an exact dollar amount on but still bring positive results to brands and companies.

Tripathi argues that in-house SEO teams are a great source of ideas and goals. Search engine optimization experts can not only share ideas when it comes to internet marketing strategies and techniques, but can also add great value to other projects in general. Valued SEO experts can contribute ideas beyond SEO, which can impact the company on a broader level. Those who work within the company care more for the brand as compared to outsourced help who are hired on project basis only.

SEO is also a great way to make marketing and IT work together because search engine optimization involves not only marketing strategies but also requires knowledge in Information Technology as well. Because of this, a company’s SEO department can easily bridge the marketing and IT departments to create an overall SEO campaign that incorporates both time sensitive and critical marketing campaigns and the technical language that only IT experts can understand.

Finally, an in-house SEO team can also help in terms of searching for the right outside help. With their knowledge in the process of doing SEO and its industry as well, an in-house SEO consultant can acquire the right agency or outside expert for the company. While it may take a few months before the value of an in-house SEO team is really appreciated, those few months are enough to make the big bosses know that SEO is a worthwhile investment and should be allotted enough time, effort, and budget to help build the company’s brand.

Now that there are actually benefits to having an in-house SEO team, perhaps it’s time to have one for your own company. Otherwise, you can always outsource SEO experts who have the experience and portfolios to back them up.
