Lady Gaga was interviewed recently about the newest viral popstar sensation, Rebecca Black. Although Rebecca black has received over 38 million views compared to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” which “only” received about 22 million views, Black has received only 48,834 likes compared to 417,946 dislikes. While the 13-year-old aspiring singer is being criticized over her “Friday” video, Lady Gaga is defending the teen’s efforts.
When asked Tuesday about teens and children using YouTube and other forms of social media to attract fame, Lady Gaga declared that it was “fantastic” and bad mouthed nasty critics.
“I say Rebecca Black is a genius and that anybody telling her she’s cheesy is full of sh*t,” said Lady Gaga during the Q&A portion of “Google Goes Gaga.” Start at the 48:00 mark to watch her comments.
Before the interview, Lady Gaga promoted Google’s Moderator, a tool can use to submit questions by text or video on the celebrity’s YouTube channel.
Lady Gaga has been showing off her use of technology making herself an even bigger hit than she already is. Google executive Marissa Mayer began highlighting Gaga’s event through using Google tools such as Translate, Image, Video and Search.
Google has seen Lady Gaga develop her career through utilizing the power of technology and regularly innovating for her huge fan base, Mayer said before introducing “Mother Monster” to online viewers and the crowd of Google employees, some even dressed in costume.
Google has been involved in the success of the web and its technology for a long time. So, it was no surprise that Google latched onto her momentum of success to promote Google Moderator. Lady Gaga was the first artist to ever hit 1 billion views on Youtube, she defeated Barack Obama in the race to 10 million fans on Facebook, she has her own iPad-only magazine app that features herself, and she is the creative director for Polaroid.
