My6sense - relevant tweet filter extension for Chrome

Frequent Twitter users are familiar with having to filter through hundreds of tweets a day, and some are much more interesting than others. If you’re following thousands of brands or individuals daily, you’re bound to miss a tweet once in a while and sometimes those tweets can be important to you. Retailers that post exclusive and time-sensitive deals may tweet at times when you have no access to your account (ex: Amazon Gold Box). That tweet then gets lost in the shuffle without you knowing, unless of course you’re actively searching for it. I know the reason I go through my Twitter feed is for updates I am genuinely interested in, not “useless” personal rants.

To help you filter through thousands of tweets and find what is most interesting to you, My6sense has developed an extension for Chrome that tracks your tweet reading behavior. The extension ads a tab to the current Twitter dashboard. After it gets a sense of what you like reading, it filters tweets based on your preferences. Tweets are organized to appear by relevancy, instead of chronologically. The “learning” My6sense does is similar to what many artificial intelligence apps such as Seymour do in mobile devices. It saves you time by directly feeding you what it thinks you want. However, it is not without its flaw. It seems to be strongly bias towards tweets with links. In addition, only frequent users of Twitter will find the tool useful, because it requires time to learn your behavior.

If you’re following thousands of individuals, My6sense is something you will want to look into. You won’t ever have to read what “x” thinks about “y” anymore (unless you care) and get to the important stuff.

My6sense is a Google Twitter extension currently available for Chrome.
