Social Media Success Stories From Established Companies (Part 2)

In our previous post, we shared with you five remarkable social media success stories from industry bigwigs. Now, it’s time for a second serving of inspiring stories from successful social media marketing campaigns.

1. Zappos. This online shoe store reached the top with some social media help, particularly Twitter. The company’s chief executive as well as other employees keep active Twitter accounts and engage customers with fresh, funny and useful information.

2. Starbucks. Starbucks did not just jump in on the social media bandwagon. The popular coffee company created one themselves! They created their very own site which is specially designed to gather user feedback and they called it “My Starbucks Idea.” This special website allowed consumers to make suggestions on products and services while it also gave the company a venue where they could respond and react to those suggestions. To supplement the website, Starbucks provided a regularly updated blog which showed how the consumers’ feedback was being used throughout the development process.

3. Australia’s Tourism. The hugely popular Queensland campaign was directed from Facebook and it drew more than 375,000 Internet users to the official website. The campaign launched a contest wherein one lucky participant will win a large reward. The excitement was fueled by active use of other social networking platforms such as Twitter or YouTube. This social media campaign resulted in a 40% increase in web searches for Queensland as well as 9,000 tickets purchased directly from the website. The best part of this social media success story is that it was achieved with minimal expense.

4. Dell. The company has been a social media devotee and it has certainly paid off. Aside from an active Twitter account, Dell has a diverse network of international blogs and an active Facebook presence. The “Dell Outlet” campaign has apparently led to over a million dollars in revenue.

5. Domino’s. By encouraging customers to “check-in” using Foursquare, the company was able to increase their profits by 29%. The company has also been able to increase the mention of their name across other social media networks.
