Survey Says US Moms Prefers E-mail Than Facebook

Social media marketing may be all the hype today but US moms still prefer to do some things the slightly older school way. A survey by Lucid Marketing recently revealed that while social networking sites, particularly Facebook, are popular among mothers, e-mail continues to play a dominant role when it comes to learning and sharing knowledge.

This finding was revealed in a report by Helen Leggatt for the BizReport. According to the article, the survey entitled “How US Moms Share and Spread Information” and as reported in MarketingCharts.com, showed that a “vast majority of moms have a Facebook account (93%), while around a third (36%) use Twitter.” It also showed that 91% of technologically updated mothers have e-mail accounts and almost all of them (98%) checked these accounts on a daily basis.

When it comes to learning about new things and sharing what they know, the survey said that US moms preferred e-mail as cited by 83% of the respondents. Only 76% would prefer Facebook for that purpose while 73% would rather go for face-to-face meetings. When it comes to sharing, 84% said they would do it via e-mail or face-to-face while 80% would prefer to do it on phone. Other figures revealed by the survey include 69% which is the percentage of moms using the Share button. Not far behind, 67% revealed that they use the Like button when sharing their learning via Facebook.

Lucid Marketing, in a quoted statement in the article, said that moms “need immediate solutions from trusted sources” and that with the accessibility of e-mail and social networking sites, “they have thousands of additional mothers to share information with as technology has allowed their communities to expand.”

Indeed, it is proof that social media is not just for e-commerce purposes but is essentially for communicating more effectively and to a more diverse group of people online.
