Tips In Successfully Using Images On Social Media Sites (Part 1)

Images are perhaps the most popular forms of social media content. It is easy to create, easy to share and it expresses twice as much ideas or feelings than a carefully thought out paragraph. Images are also very powerful that if you use it the wrong way, it can make or break your social media marketing campaign.

Here are some general tips to maximize the value of images on your social media sites.

1. Use image-hosting services. Large images or image sets can be a burden to your server and it can affect the performance of your e-commerce website. A slow-loading site is a major turn-off for many online customers. Try Amazon’s S3 or Flickr Pro.

2. Mark your original images–tastefully, that is. If the content is original, it is acceptable to put your URL on the bottom right. Images are easy to steal online so it is one way of protecting yourself and getting visibility for your work. Do not forget the part about being tasteful. Do not overdo the labeling and the watermarking because it can ruin the look and the overall appeal of your social media campaign.

3. Use large files. Low-res and low quality files will only earn you negative comments and a bad reputation. Always default to the largest image possible.

4. Use image sets. A group of images is more effective in delivering a more comprehensive visual content which in turn can earn you more brownie points. When using image sets, make sure to use the same size for each image for a more professional look.
