Tips In Successfully Using Images On Social Media Sites (Part 2)

In our first installment, we shared with you general tips on maximizing the use of images for your social media marketing campaigns. Now we will share tips on the more specific uses of images in social media sites.

1. Funny Images. One way to engage your online audience is to make them laugh. Of course, this is a lot more difficult than it sounds because different people find different things funny. However, there are common grounds that are bound to elicit a laugh or two from your audience. One example of these is a captioned photo with funny dialogue that often contrasts with what is seen on the image. Another surefire funny image is an edited screenshot of a popular website or photo. When trying to be funny, always be considerate how your audience might feel, and as a general rule do not involve politics, race, or religion.

2. Informative Images. When we try to inform or educate our online audience, our tendency is to explain it through text. While this isn’t bad, you must also consider the attention span of your target market. With carefully chosen images, you have better chances of sustaining the attention of your fickle audience. One way to use images is to share visual how-to guides. Use screenshots to explain the steps of a procedure. Alternatively, you can also use images to create flow charts. By using images, you can add a visual twist to an educational piece of information. If you are planning on sharing statistics with your audience, use images to make it more captivating.

3. Photography. Social media users appreciate a good photo. You can share a good photo you have taken yourself or found online (make sure to acknowledge the respective owner). As mentioned in our previous post, make sure that you always share high resolution photos and if you can, upload in sets to achieve maximum visual effect.

Always remember, images are powerful social media content, so use them wisely.
