Previously, we discussed the importance of meeting the demands of the audience and staying focused on a single topic per release when drafting a press release for the purpose of SEO. Today, we conclude this two-part article by Meg Walker, Online Marketing Director of PRWeb, that aims to help small businesses more effective press releases to gain more leads and online visibility.
3. Images – Readers love seeing photos on anything. Images are entertaining and somehow breaks the monotony of reading articles that are text-heavy. For SEO, images can boost click through rate by up to 15-25%, both for regular and news search. PRWeb states that more news are being discovered through image search, such that when users are searching for specific images, these images lead them to news articles and consequently to the small business that created the press release. For small businesses interested to upload press releases on PRWeb, it would be interesting to know that the PR engine keeps the press releases forever so there is an indefinite time that the images and articles can receive organic and image search traffic.
4. Videos – With people’s attention span decreasing by the moment, videos are a great way to hold the interest of your audience. Videos incorporated in news releases see an increase of up to 500%. A richer media experience encourages bloggers, journalists, and other end users to become more familiarized with using videos to offer a better experience. Since not everyone uses video today, including one in a press release will help the article stand out.
5. Search engine optimized press release – For SEO purposes, optimizing press releases can be done in a number of ways:
A. Anchor text links – Use at least 3, one that leads to the homepage, product page, and blog post.
B. Alt-tag – For proper tagging of images that will lead search engine crawlers to the photos.
C. URL Keyword – primary keywords that are included in the URL string.
D. Description tag – Meta tags that are also keyword-rich and compelling.
E. Press Release title – For SEO, it is very important for on-page optimization that should have the target phrase or keyword.
Small businesses are encouraged to start developing content such as press releases that will help them build links in the long run. Press releases are a must for today’s local and small businesses because it brings their business to a wider range of people that share the same interests, which will hopefully turn into bigger sales in the future.
