For the second part of our Local SEO Guide, we’re featuring tips on how marketers can start the on-page optimization of their website for their local SEO campaign.
Without further ado, here’s an easy on-page local SEO guide for starters to follow:
- Business Logo
Make sure to upload an optimized business logo on your website. An optimized business logo means that the image should have the business name and city in its file name and image alt tag.
- Website NAP
Place a clear textual content of your business name, business address, and local phone number in a prominent position on your website. You can place it on the footer of your website as well as on your contact page.
- Meta Title and Meta Description
Update your website’s meta title and meta description. Include the city and region, especially in the meta title and meta description of your website’s landing pages.
- Direction/Map
Add a Google Map to your website with directions going to your business location or physical store. This helps reinforce the fact that your online business does have a physical location. It also helps local customers to easily find your business.
- Content and Links
Ensure that your website content has references and links to other important and relevant local businesses, places, and events.
- Language and Geo-Tags
Double-check if your website is using the correct language and region tags. Note the difference between EN-US and EN-GB.
- Google Authorship
Set up your website and blog’s Google Authorship. It can help improve your search engine click-through-rate (CTR), especially if you want your business to be known locally.
- Schema.org
Make sure that your website is using Schema.org. You can double-check by using Google’s Webmaster tools. If your website doesn’t use Schema, contact your developer and tell him to set up a local business schema for your website.
- Company Team
Highlight your team on your website by using local Schema. You can also link to and from their Linkedin profiles. This promotes trust among your visitors.
- Local Publicity
Organize local events and initiatives through your website to generate press interest. This is very helpful, especially for businesses that offer services in their local area.
