Google is rolling out a new link spam update this December 2022. The update started rolling out on December 14 and will take two weeks to finish.
The new update will include an upgrade to Google’s algorithm spam detection system. This includes the ability to find any purchased links and detect domains that are used primarily to pass links to other websites.
It will also utilize Google’s AI-based spam prevention system called SpamBrain to nullify any unnatural links the algorithm may find.
Furthermore, Google also states that the SpamBrain system can now identify sites that are buying links and sites that are used for building outgoing links.

Google has also advised that the December 2022 link spam update may cause changes to website rankings. The update will neutralize unnatural links and remove signals that are passed to the linking domain. It will roll out in search results for all languages and will result in a widespread impact.

If you’re doing natural link-building and don’t buy links from other websites, then you don’t need to worry about anything. However, if you practice buying links from other websites or create a separate website to primarily build links, then you might see your ranking drop this month.
