At this age in internet marketing, big brands are not the only companies who utilize videos for SEO purposes. Small businesses can also start putting up SEO videos on their websites and it doesn’t need to cost a huge chunk of the marketing budget. YouTube is a great way to start incorporating videos on any small business’s website. It’s easy, painless, and most of all, free.
So how can small businesses be successful in incorporating SEO videos? James A. Martin of SmallBusinessComputing.com shares 10 ideas on how to get started on SEO videos.
1. A call to action at the end of each video is more effective than ending a video with a thank you or goodbye. Whether it’s to call a toll-free number, visit the website, or take advantage of a promotion, encourage the viewer to do something related to your business at the end of each video.
2. Short but high-definition and wide-screen videos will generate more views than standard and lo quality ones. Another reason why YouTube is such a hit even for amateurs is because they provide instructions on doing the more technical aspect of shooting and uploading videos. The recommended length of an SEO video is two minutes or less.
3. Keywords are very important which is why small businesses should keep these in mind when uploading videos on YouTube. Small business owners can find potential keywords by typing it onto YouTube’s search box. Google offers suggestions as soon as you type them in, suggestions which are often the most popular ones users look for.
4. Know the competition out there. Once you have an idea of the keywords to use, check the competition by typing them, again on YouTube’s search box.
5. As with setting up a website, the title, description, and tags of the video should also contain the keywords for your business. This will be easier to find in SERPs. Think of a compelling title and description so users will pick your SEO video instead of others. 65 characters is the recommended number for YouTube titles. Otherwise, it gets clipped on search results.
