The latest data relase by The Nielsen Company shows that 61% of smartphone users are reported to have downloaded a game application, making them the most downloaded type of application among mobile phone users. The runner-ups are weather and maps applications, where large screens have proven to be a more gratifying experience for users.
The average American downloads about 27 apps on to his or her smartphone, which is up from last December from 22 apps. Also, those using iPhones, on average, have about 40 apps on their phones, whereas Andriod and Blackberry users have 25 and 14 apps, respectively.
Even though games are the most popular apps this month, Facebook is still the most used application among all smartphones, whereas Twitter is a top five app for Blackberry and YouTube is one of the top apps for the Android.
