Google Business Profile has a new attribute that will allow companies to engage with eco-conscious customers. Business owners can now add “recycling” as one of their business attributes.
This new attribute will allow businesses to display their commitment to sustainability and environmentalism through their Google Business Profile. This can help businesses to target the growing eco-friendly community consisting of consumers who prefer to buy eco-friendly products over others.
The Growing Number of Environmental-Conscious Consumers
In a survey published by Google, 82% of online consumers say that sustainability is a top priority they consider in their purchasing decisions.
Google reported that the term “recycling” is currently one of its most popular searches. In fact, it has an average popularity score of 81 out of 100.
Environmental-related queries including “climate change,” “renewable energy,” and “sustainability” have also seen an increase in their popularity score.
A published report titled “The 2021 Business of Sustainability Index” created by the environmental technology company, GreenPrint. It found that 78% of U.S. consumers are likely to buy a product that comes with an eco-friendly label.
Recycling Attribute on Google Business Profile
To help eco-friendly consumers find the stores that support their movement and beliefs, Google has added the new recycling attribute to Google Business Profile. This makes it easier for online consumers to find businesses that do recycling in search results and Google Maps.
Whether online search users are looking for places to recycle plastic, old electronics, or glass bottles, a simple search can point them in the right direction. Adding this attribute will also help businesses that support eco-friendliness to reach their target audience on Google through their Business Profile.
Adding the Recycling Attribute
As of now, there are over 3,000 categories in Google Business Profiles. These attributes fall into two categories: subjective and factual. The difference is that subjective attributes refer to whether a business is suitable for kids or casual. They are mostly business attributes sourced from the opinions of consumers who have reviewed the business.
Factual attributes, on the other hand, like recycling, are maintained by businesses.
To add the “recycling” attribute to your Google Business Profile, start with the info tab. Click on “From the business – Add attributes.” Select “recycling” from the list of attributes.
Upon adding the recycling attribute to your Business Profile, it will show up in searches of consumers looking for ways to dispose of items in an eco-friendly manner.
