Shopify has released its latest update with its Summer ’22 Edition. This new update will add more than 100 new features, including NFTs, Twitter shopping, and tap-to-pay on iPhone.
The update aims to create a C2C environment for users and their customers. C2C stands for Connect-to-Consumer, aiming to help sellers find their customers and scale their business with their new products and features.
According to Shopify’s CEO, Tobi Lütke, their development team has worked hard to solve the complex challenges that merchants deal with today. With Shopify Editions, they hope to share the latest innovations in commerce so that people who are ambitious enough to try their hand at entrepreneurship can start and scale faster than before.
Connect-to-Consume and Business-to-Business
Aside from its direct-to-consumer functionality, C2C will also feature Shopify’s first incursion into the business-to-business marketplace.
With B2B, Shopify creates a seamless experience for Shopify Plus merchants who want to sell their products to other businesses on the same platform.
Shopify makes this possible by automatically integrating essential data into the solution. This is through the integrations with partners like Acumatica, NetSuite, and Brightpearl.
Connect-to-Consume Features
Here are the new features users need to expect with the C2C update:
- Dovetail – will make it easier for merchants to find influencers and affiliate marketers.
- Local inventory sync – will mirror Google’s focus on local search and will allow merchants to notify their customers once a product is available.
- Shopify Functions – will allow developers to create backend code and provide flexibility of an open-source platform.
- Tap-to-pay on iPhone – makes point-of-sale transactions easier. Merchants can now sell offline with no extra hardware.
- Tokengated commerce – will integrate Shopify into the NFT market and links crypto wallets to online stores.
- Twitter sales channel – will allow merchants to highlight their products and sell them directly to their Twitter profile.
