If you can find your next wife or husband on a social network, then you can certainly find your ideal flight partner online as well.
Companies are indeed finding novel ways to use social media and other internet marketing services for their businesses. According to a post on the Marketing Pilgrim, some airlines are now using social media to help frequent flyers find “compatible” seatmates.
KLM has a Meet and Seat program, which uses Facebook and LinkedIn profiles to help match flyers on the same flight. The application lets flyers choose information that they want to share. It then displays the profiles of other passengers and their seat assignments. Flyers can pick their preferred seatmates and wait for a confirmation of acceptance from the chosen seatmate.
This new social seating program is useful for frequent flyers who have had one too many experiences with too chatty or too creepy seatmates. Of course, not everyone is thrilled about it but this new social idea certainly has a lot of potential. According to the blog post, one mom who frequently travels with her young children found it “puzzling.”
Even if you are not in the airline business, this idea is worth sharing with your Internet marketing service provider. How can you use social media or other Internet marketing services to provide better customer service? What unconventional and yet effective programs can you draw up with it? Social media offers a lot of opportunities and information. It’s up to you or your Internet marketing service provider to maximize it.
