Ping, a social media site released by Apple, has already reached over 1 million users in the two days it has been released. Apple introduced Ping to the world during the unveiling of iTunes 10. The main attraction to the social media site is its focus on music, and it has been described as a “Facebook meets Twitter for music.”
Ping consists of news feeds, custom songs, album charts, and following friends and music artists. The new social media site will allow users to find out what artists are creating and what they are listening to. It will more convenient for people to find music events for their favorite artists.
There have been several glitches since its release last Wednesday, one of which was international availability. However, since Ping will be included in the iTunes update, what is to stop iTunes’ 160 million users from take a stab at Ping? We will wait and see if the new music social media site will stick.
