According to Irbtrax, an SEO Internet Marketing firm, Google has started rolling out the Caffeine update to its search algorithm, and the effects of it have already begun to manifest themselves. The company reports that, although Caffeine has yet to be implemented in its entirety, some sites have already seen their rankings fluctuate, search speeds have improved, and there are now enhanced search engine result pages (SERPs).
The most visible result of the revision is the inclusion of real time searches. As many have doubtless noticed, search results have begun to integrate live feeds from Twitter, as well as news sites and blogs, which are constantly updated to provide the most current information.
As stated by Irbtrax founder Scott Moir, “Having witnessed ‘Real Time’ search in action on several occasions, it’s obvious that Caffeine is going to increase the demand and value of strong Social Media platforms.”
The update should largely prove useful for social media marketing, as its relevance is set to see a large increase as a result of the new real time search. Because search results are now being updated by the second, as opposed to the hourly or daily changes under Google’s old search, the interest in information obtained through social media is likely to be weighed more heavily.
