In a report for the Internet Retailer by Zak Stambor, web measurement firm Experian Hitwise revealed figures stating that Google+ attracted 6.8 million U.S. visit in the second week of November alone. This is the social network’s third-highest total since it was launched last June. The figure is also a 5% increase from the previous week’s visits. So far, the top week for Google+ was when it went public (following a by-invitation only account registration when it first broke ground) during the week ending September 24. That week, it had almost 15 million visits.

Another factor seen as a reason for the traffic bump is the newbie social network’s opening up to retailers, brands and companies. This move gave online businesses another avenue to expand and strengthen their customer relationships online. The Internet Retailer report also quoted a Hitwise spokesperson saying that Google+ is poised to become “more engaging”, thanks to more content, more users and more brands. The spokesman also pointed out that Google+ draws a lot of strength from the success of other notable Google brands such as Gmail and Google the search engine.
