Google has released an update on Google Ads’ image extensions. The update will now allow users to add stock photos from a selection. This means that you are no longer required to source your own visual photos for your ads.
This update is part of the series of changes Google has made to image extensions. Another part of the update gives users the ability to display image extensions in desktop. To give you the full details about the Google Ads Update, here’s the summary below:
Google Image Extension Updates
1 – Ad Image Extensions with Stock Photos
Google Ads now allows you to use stock photos in its image extensions. Google offers a searchable library of free stock photos that users can add to their ad’s image extension.
The update rolled out in response to the feedback that many people find it hard to source unique visuals to enhance their ads with images. Users can now choose “Stock Images” as an option when adding a visual for their image extension. After you have found a photo you like to use, you can crop it to a square or landscape format before you can apply it to your extension.
Google recommends that marketers use at least three relevant visual photos in their image extensions.
2 – Image Extensions Now Shows in Desktop Ads
Before, image extensions were exclusive to mobile ads. But in the coming weeks, image extensions will begin showing in desktop ads as well.
If your Google Ads have image extensions, you just have to wait until they show on the desktop automatically. The update will also let you view the performance of your ads with image extensions on desktop devices performances. Google Ads will allow you to segment performance data by device.
3 – Use Dynamic Image Extensions in Different Language
Before, dynamic image extensions were only available in English. But the update now makes it available in all languages.
For those who don’t know what dynamic image extensions are, it uses machine learning to choose the most relevant visuals from your landing page to appear in your ad. You can use the dynamic image by opting in from the Extensions page in your account.
Once you enable the dynamic image extensions, Google will automatically add images from your landing pages to the corresponding ad groups in your Search campaigns.
