Search engines are determined to make their searches more “real-time.” Big industry players like Google and Bing have made their moves in an effort to reach this achievement, but it’s still a work in progress. If you like the idea of real-time search but want an engine that can gather results from all your favorite social media marketing platforms, we’ve got a new social and real-time search engine for you—Leapfish.
Leapfish provides results from just about every source you can imagine, ranging from your traditional search engines, your multimedia sites (i.e. YouTube), to your social media marketing platforms. In fact, the results page is quite impressive, providing you results from a variety of categories like Google news, general Google/Bing/Yahoo results, YouTube, Twitter, blogs, images and much more.
One perk I enjoyed is that you don’t even need to wander from the page to view videos or images. Hovering over any of the videos will play the video and hovering over any image will mean having the full image load. Other perks are the inclusion of shopping results collected from Amazon and eBay and providing related searches and search suggestions as you start typing away.
Leapfish is also different from other search engines because it takes tips from social media marketing platforms. Your profile can aggregate information from your Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, blog RSS, and other personal sites while also allowing you to share search results you like on Twitter, Facebook, Mixx, Digg, StumbleUpon, and more. Also, similar to Google’s homepage, you are allowed to add widgets, or small boxes that show you the latest news from a variety of your favorite sources. The Twitter and Facebook widgets allow you to update your statuses, read status updates, and comment on them.
Although a newcomer to the search market, we’re sure the tool will gain popularity quickly and will become a big player in the real-time search industry.
