Have you and your Internet marketing expert heard about “Search, plus Your World”? It has a lot to do with Google+, the search engine giant’s own social networking site. Basically, Google now takes into consideration Google+ updates and people’s +1s in providing search results.
What does this mean for your business?
For starters, it’s a powerful social proof which can increase the chances of someone clicking on a link. It also means that you and your Internet marketing expert should beef up your marketing strategy on Google+ because it can make a world of a difference.
Here are new tips courtesy of the folks at the Social Media Examiner.
1. Use really relevant keywords. It’s okay to use industry jargon but you also have to be conscious about how your target market talks about your products and services. Ask your Internet marketing expert to list down words that your customers use to search for you online. Make sure to incorporate these in your “About” section and use it often when posting status updates or captioning photos.
2. Size matters. The more Google+ followers you have, the better. Make sure to let people know you are on Google+. Put a badge on your site. Ask customers to include you in their circles and add a link to your profile in all your communications. You can also share your brand posts via your personal profile (since your target users have to follow your brand pages first before you can follow them). Of course, encourage your team to have their own Google+ profiles and follow your brand page. Make them brand ambassadors! Sit down with your Internet marketing expert and brainstorm creative (and legitimate!) ways to grow your Google+ fan base.
3. Train the Google machine. Did you know that if you consistently post on the same topic using consistent keywords then you are “conditioning” Google to promote your page for that particular search topic? Of course, Google values quality so make sure you are not just posting for the sake of posting. Make each post count!
