Shopify has become one of the most popular website platforms, competing with the likes of WordPress, BigCommerce, and Magento. Due to its easy user interface and navigation, it offers the ability to non-programming users to build their own website and sell their own products.
If you’re one of the many who plan to build an e-commerce shop with Shopify, then you stumbled upon the right article. So as one of the best internet marketing consultants in Los Angeles, we will guide you on how you can start building your online store using Shopify.
Create an account on Shopify.
First of all, you have to sign up on Shopify and create an account. Visit Shopify.com, type your email address, then click the “Start the free trial” button. Input the name of your store and fill out the other details the site is asking for. They will also ask you if you already have the products to sell, or if you’re just playing around to see how it all works. Once you are complete, select “I’m done.”
Set up your online store.
After you are done with the first step, you’ll then be redirected to your store’s admin area. This is Shopify’s dashboard, where you’ll be able to customize your store, upload your products, set up payment methods and shipping.
Choose your shop’s theme.
Now that you have your online store, the next thing you need to do is choose a theme. Shopify has its own theme store, where you select over 70 themes including a few free ones. Once you have chosen your preferred one, click the green button to install. After that, go to your Theme Manager and activate the installed theme
Update your account’s setting.
Shopify will let you customize your store’s look so that your website won’t end up looking like a clone of other sites. Customization includes uploading your website’s logo, adding slides to your homepage carousel, adding related items, choosing the number of products to appear on your collection page, and selecting your color schemes and font choices.
Add products to your store.
Once your store is all set up, the next thing you need to do is add your products. Select “Products” on the left sidebar then choose “Add a product.” The button will take you to the Product Screen, where you can put in the details of your products including meta content. Once everything is filled out, click the “Save Product” button.
Set up your payment gateway.
After you have uploaded your products, the next thing you have to do is to choose your payment gateway. If you wish to use a third-party gateway, you can use the “enable payment gateway” link on the Payments page.
Publish your store.
Before your store can go live, Shopify will require you to add a few more details like connecting the shop to your Google Analytics and setting up the taxes and shipping rates. Once done, you can test your order system. If everything is going well, then it’s time to publish your online shop.
To get your site live, you’ll have to buy a domain for your shop. You can either buy from Shopify or from a third party website like GoDaddy. After purchasing, go to the Domains tab in the left sidebar and choose your primary domain. Voila! Your Shopify website is now live.
