You Can Now Remove Personal Information on Google Mobile App

The Google App has a new update, and it allows users to remove their personal information from search results. This update is an extension tool for users to easily access the removal request form.

The search engine giant launched the personal information removal tool in 2020. However, users spent time looking for it at the bottom of their help page.

With the Google mobile app update, users can access the form through the app itself. Go to the user profile menu or the search result pages to access it.

Remove Personal Information from Google Mobile App

There are some instances when we encounter a web page in search results that may contain personally identifiable information. If you wish to remove these personal details on Google mobile app, tap the three-dot menu. This will bring you to the “About this result” panel.

Select the “Remove result,” and the app will forward you to the removal request form. This form will ask you to give additional information to help Google understand why you choose to remove the page from its search results.

The new update will allow users to access the removal request form by simply tapping on their profile pictures. You can select “Results about you” to proceed to the form.

Removal Personal Information Tool Features

The removal personal information tool from the mobile app will enable users to request the de-index web pages that may contain the following personally identifiable information:

  • Bank account numbers
  • Credit card numbers
  • Personal contact information, including address, phone number, and email address
  • Confidential government ID numbers such as the Social Security Number
  • Confidential login credentials
  • Highly personal and restricted official records
  • Images of handwritten signatures
  • Images of ID documents

Once you have submitted the removal personal information request form, wait for Google to send you an email confirming if your request was received. Another email will be sent to inform you if Google has taken action.

Google can also deny requests for removing personal information if it appears on a page considered helpful and valuable, like in news articles. Any public records and information posted on government websites won’t also be removed.
