Loyal Facebook fans are what fuel an effective social media marketing campaign. But did you know that there are different types of Facebook fans? According to an infographic from Moontoast, a fan’s progression reaches its peak when he/she becomes a Super Fan. A Super Fan is one who has given you access to their basic persona information, has actually purchased from you and has made an effort to lead another fan to your business. Super indeed!
According to an article from the Social Media Examiner, it is a process that takes time (unless of course you are a huge brand) and consequently, patience and persistence. Here are some basic steps to start building your own loyal army of Super Facebook Fans.
1. Do not forget the human touch. Like we always say, social media is about building relationships with your customers. Talk to your Facebook fans the same way that you would talk to your friends, and don’t stifle your personality. Post entertaining links and photos or let your fans in on a sneak peek of your personal side. Found a funny road sign? Snap a photo of it and post it on your wall. Of course, don’t forget the funny caption. Try the 80/20 test. Focus on your business 80% of the time and spend the remaining 20% on human interest topics. Observe your fans’ reactions and adjust your strategy accordingly.
2. Be a content machine. When it comes to social media, substance reigns supreme over form. Make sure your Facebook page has a good mix of content that educates, entertains, and empowers. Make an effort to create new content and combine different forms of communication. Some fans might respond better to video than text while other might prefer images over videos. You can’t please everybody at the same time, but you can give them what they want one at a time. A good way to mix up your media is to post links of your blogs or v-logs to your Facebook page. You can also use an editorial calendar to monitor the quality and variety of your content.
3. Make sure that communication is a two-way process. Don’t just be a conversation starter. Respond to questions and comments and say “thank you” to fans for reaching out. Don’t just post and log out. Get involved. Craft your posts in such a way that fans will be able to give feedback, suggestions or even share from experience. People are social beings, and you will be surprised at what you can discover just by listening.
4. Create consistent calls to action. A Super Fan appreciates a real authority, and one way to show that you are an authority is by consistently giving them calls to action. Start with simple ones such as “Click this” or “Watch this” when posting relevant and interesting content related to your niche. You can also ask them to sign up for a free newsletter or take advantage of discounts as these will help you build trust and rapport as time progresses. Offering free useful content is a great way to start and later on, you can ask them to offer more commitments (such as giving their e-mail address in exchange for exclusive discounts) to you and to your brand.
