Are you on Facebook’s Timeline?
How about your brand?
No?
Okay, time to call your internet marketing expert.
As early as last year, Facebook vice president of marketing and business partnerships David Fischer announced that the “Timelines for brands will not be a carbon copy” of the version for individuals. Yes, it would have the same layout and it would be graphics heavy with emphasis on activity boxes. If you have noticed, the activity boxes for individual Timelines are used for highlighting app use, movies watched and status updates. For brands, your Internet marketing expert can expect information from the tabs on your brand page.
What does this mean for your brand?
It means that with the new Timeline for brands, the tabs will become boxes displayed prominently on the front page so every visitor will see your current promos, coupons, featured products, location maps and even e-commerce options. Your Facebook page will look like your own website. Is that cool or is that super cool?
This Timeline can also be useful for bands in creating a discography or for fashion designer or artists to showcase their portfolio. For you and your Internet marketing expert, it opens up new opportunities to advertise on the world’s biggest social networking site. The article notes that the Timeline “should force companies to become more creative with social media.”
Well, that can only be a good thing, right?
