Google Ads is implementing a 3-strike policy rule for its users. This new rule will issue a strike against your Google Ads accounts when you have repeatedly violated specific policies.
However, Google also confirmed that strikes will not be issued for every policy. The policies that will have a strike system enabled are only the following:
- bail bond services
- binary options
- call directories, forward services
- clickbait
- compensated sexual acts
- credit repair services
- mail-order brides
- misleading ad design
- personal loans
For the specific policies mentioned above, Google Ads will get a maximum of three strikes. And every time each strike is applied, the penalties will progressively increase.
Google Ads Strikes Policy Rule
Google further explained how each strike worked. Your Google Ads account will be put on a temporary hold on the first and second strikes. The first strike will have a three-day temporary hold, while the second strike will have a seven-day temporary hold.
Your Google Ads account will be suspended if you make a third strike. This strike will be on an individual account level, not a Manager account level.
Google Ads will notify you via email of the warning or suspension if you set up your account to receive email notifications. If not, an in-account notification will show in the interface of the warnings and strikes.
How to Fix Strikes
Once the account is on temporary hold, the user must remove any assets or ads violating the policy. The user must also need to submit an acknowledgment form.
The acknowledgment form includes details about the strike policy, and submitting it means agreeing to follow Google’s policy rules. These rules include the following:
- The user is aware of the specific policy or policies that led to the strike being issued on the account.
- You must removed any assets or ads that violate the policies in question. The user also needs to ensure that future assets and ads will not violate any policies.
- Creating additional accounts or attempting to circumvent the policy enforcement is strictly prohibited. Doing such actions can lead to your Google Ads account suspension.
Once you have made the necessary changes, submit the appeal form for the strike to be removed from your account.
