It does not take the best Internet marketing company to determine the stark reality about social media—it’s everywhere and almost everyone is on it.
In a BizReport article, it was reported that a new study has been conducted by Leo Burnett Worldwide and Arc Worldwide and the results revealed that “Americans are using social media as part of their online shopping experience.” Not impressed? Well, according to the report, the study further answers crucial questions such as: Who are these social shoppers? And more importantly, how is social media meeting their needs? The article furthered that 96% of Americans use social media and 95 million (those aged in between 18 to 49) use popular social sites such as Facebook and Twitter as part of how they do online shopping. Meanwhile, more than 70% have increased their social media dose in comparison to last year.
The study by Leo Burnett Worldwide and Arc Worldwide, called “SocialShop”, also found that if social media needs aren’t met when online shopping, 44% of the shoppers have a tendency to break off brand engagement, also via social media. Now, that’s something to think over.
“SocialShop” segmented shoppers according to their needs and it identified six types:
1. Savvy Passionista – the heavy social shopper who uses social media to stay connected, announce the latest trends and promote the trendiest brands and retailers
2. Opportunistic Adventurer – the shopper who is on the prowl for “fun, unexpected content and deals”
3. Strategic Saver – the comparison shopper who uses social media to scour the Internet for the best deals on the brands they like
4. Quality Devotee – the shopper who uses social media to find reviews and ratings to help them make a purchase decision
5. Efficient Sprinter – the shopper who looks for the most popular and most convenient purchases
6. Dollar Defaulter – the shopper who values price above all else and who defaults to the cheapest products available
Now, this is something that the best Internet marketing company will consider a gold mine of information. Your next step? Call your social media agencynow and strategize.
