On October 28, 2021, Mark Zuckerberg announced to change the name of The Facebook Company to “Meta” during The Connect 2021. The CEO believes that metaverse will be the successor of mobile internet. But what is Metaverse?
Metaverse is a realm that brings physical and digital worlds together through the use of virtual reality or augmented reality. By creating a virtual space, people can create digital presentations of themselves called “avatars.” Through these avatars, they can interact with other people’s avatars in the metaverse. Interactions aren’t limited to communication alone. People can create virtual offices or virtual home spaces to do anything they want. These activities include partying, watching videos, movies, or concerts, or even creating games they can play together.

Horizon Home is the new addition to the social platform Horizon. This platform helps people create avatars to interact with each other in the metaverse. VR Messenger Calls
The company has launched its support in VR for Messenger. This allows users to send a quick message to friends from inside their headset gear. Later this year, Meta will also release audio calls to VR. Users will be able to jump an audio call with friends and eventually hang out to VR destinations with their friends.
Video Games
According to Meta, they are currently working on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Oculus Quest 2. The company will also work on a number of new games along with their partnership with Vertigo Games.
Fitness
In 2022, Meta will release the Active Pack for Oculus Quest 2. This Active Pack will include new grips for Touch controllers. It will help you stay in control of the system even while you sweat. It will also have an exercise-optimized facial interface.
The Future
The main goal of Meta is to create a metaverse where people will encompass work, entertainment, and everything in between. Meta will soon begin testing Quest for Business, which will have new features designed for businesses that will allow consumers to buy things virtually.
