Many find it hard to understand local SEO, how it works, and how to optimize it. With this in mind, we at Cybertegic, your trusted digital marketing company in Los Angeles, decided to create a two-part local SEO guide for starters.
To start off, here is our off-page local SEO guide to help you with your local SEO campaign.
- Google My Business
Complete and optimize your listing on Google My Business. Make sure to check all vital information about your business. Upload your business logo, create a keyword-rich business bio, and add info about your business products or services. Last but not the list, add important links from your website.
- Local Listings
Claim all of your local business listings in major listing sites such as Google Places, Yelp, Bing Places, Foursquare, and Yellow Pages. You can use tools such as Moz to find a list of all local listings you should claim.
- Online Directories
Register your website on leading local business directories and forums. Make sure to optimize each listing and double-check your business NAP.
- Social Media Channels
Social media channels work well in promoting your business locally. Add your business’s exact name, address, and phone number to all of your social network pages, especially Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter. Make sure to also link your website to your social media pages.
- Local Press
Organize local business events and promote them on your website. Your goal is for your business to get mentions from the local press and bloggers.
- Business NAP
Your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) should be consistent in all your local listings, directory pages, and social media pages. Inconsistent NAP can hurt your website’s local organic ranking and drive away customers.
- Share your business listing.
Share your Google Business profile, social media pages, and other geo-local websites. It will help customers know where to leave their feedback. And when they do, make sure to reply, whether it is a positive or negative review.
- Review Local Places
If you have time, review other local places, businesses, and events using your business profile on Google Places. This will reinforce and cultivate your local presence.
